Capybaras have a scent gland on the top of their nose called a morillo, which means little hill. It is most prominent in males, especially dominant males. Garibaldi’s (and Caplin’s) went down a lot after he was neutered. Luckily the scent is not noticeable by humans. In this photo, Gari is marking a corner just to prove he has a right to be there.
