Caught Garibaldi Rous in the middle of a roll in his newly refurbished pond. Either that or he has a broken back.
It was the first warm, sunny day we’d had in a while today and Garibaldi Rous took advantage of it with a roll in the mud.
A poem from Garibaldi’s blog post today (you can read the whole post here: Mud Therapy):
Ode to Mud
Squish, squirm, smash up some worms!
Cover me with cool slimy mud!
Squiggle, squabble, can’t put in a bottle,
The joy that I feel as it churns!
Not all capybaras are willing to turn upside down, in fact, I think most won’t. Caplin Rous never rolled over and neither does his brother Dobby Winnick. But Gari is upside down underwater as often as not. Here he is coming out from underneath the ladder with a big smile on his face.
Garibaldi Rous got a chance to visit with Sheldon today and that was a chance for some nice belly scratching as far as he was concerned.
Capybara Photo-of-the-Day is going to be off-line until at least June 26th while I am out of town. I hope y’all can find somewhere else to get your capybara fix.
We were cat sitting for a few weeks. At first Flopsy was pretty afraid of Garibaldi Rous. Incidents like this one, where Gari tried to roll over on top of Flopsy did not help. Gari apparently thinks Flopsy is going to scratch his stomach.
This is one of my favorite photos of Garibaldi Rous because it really captures his personality. He is the clown of the capybara world.
Took Garibaldi Rous for a walk out to Capybara Creek this afternoon. We’ve gotten some rain finally so there is actually water in the creek, still not enough to swim in but enough for a good roll.
This is Caplin Rous rolling in the dry bed of Capybara Creek last winter. He was always sad when there was no water or, at the very least, mud.
I caught Garibaldi Rous mid-roll in this shot. Rolling is his superpower and when he’s in the pool he is constantly practicing. His rolling ability inspired his new Super Capy plush.
