This is Caplin Rous’ eye when it is fully open. You can see that there is no black line either in front of or behind the eye. Compare this with yesterday’s photo and the photo from three days ago. Surprisingly, as much as I’ve read about capybaras, I have never seen it mentioned that they can close their eyes in thirds.

Another eye photo. This is Garibaldi Rous’ eye, taken today. In this shot he has only the middle portion of his eye fully open. You can see that the lashes are only on this central third of the eyelid. Tomorrow I’ll post a photo of a fully open eye for contrast.
