This is Garibaldi Rous’ mother and three-week-old full sister. The soil where they live stains their fur red. His sister is a little trouble-maker. She escapes from her enclosure and she bites. Strange since Gari is so meek and peaceful.

This weekend we got to go down to Kapi’yva Exotics in Pearland, TX to see their capybaras. This is my daughter, Coral, holding a one-day-old baby girl who is a half-sibling of Garibaldi Rous.

This is six-week-old Caplin Rous getting out of his pool. Baby capybaras don’t swim for the first few days after birth but they are in the water following their mother and the band within a week. It was so fun watching Caplin learning to swim and seeing how much he loved the water.
