Caplin Rous liked to sleep under the covers. In this photo he is just eight months old.
Capybara pawprints on my carpet. Capybaras don’t care much about tracking mud in the house. It is surprisingly difficult to get a good set of pawprints though because the hind foot often steps in the print of the forefoot.
After a long swim in the pool, Garibaldi Rous likes to go lie down next to the fence which he matches almost perfectly.
Garibaldi Rous loves to go for walks around the property. If only he loved to get his leash on. He still does not seem to have connected these two activities. In this photo he is waiting eagerly at the gate with no harness and no leash.
We took Bakersfield out for a swim with Garibaldi this afternoon. Turns out he doesn’t much like swimming.
This is Caplin Rous swimming. Unlike Garibaldi, Caplin never rolled over either in the water or on land. He was much faster than Gari in the water though since all that rolling steals forward momentum.
I think this week’s theme is underwater acrobatics with Garibaldi Rous. That little capybara gets into the strangest poses while he is swimming.
Caplin Rous did a pretty good imitation of a rabbit for our friend Kimiko (CapybaraCamera) who was visiting from Japan. A big rabbit like that might put a slightly different spin on the Easter Bunny though.
Cats and capybaras can become friends although Flopsy seems a little uncertain about Garibaldi Rous in this photo.

I am starting a new contest on my blog and that made me look through my old contest photos where I spotted this image. The contest I created this for was “Putting Caplin Rous in My Life,” which was a photoshopping contest. This is a photoshopped image of Ellen DeGeneres walking Caplin Rous.
I hope you’ll consider going to the blog and entering my Capitalisms contest!
