This is me with Caplin Rous at the 2010 Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Hoedown. Caplin was there getting his photo taken with people and their guinea pigs. You might have seen one of these photos on Awkward Family Photos and in their book about pet awkward family photos. He was super good with all the people and the guinea pigs.

Garibaldi Rous was the star attraction at a charity event to raise money for the United Way today. He helped raise $1000! The event is called “Kiss the Critter” and four people got to kiss him.

One of Garibaldi and Caplin Rous’s great Facebook fans made this wonderful quilt featuring the ROUS Foundation logo. Capybara fans are the very best fans in the world.

Last week I went to the Blog Paws conference and had the chance to meet the amazing BZTAT! She is a fantastic artist and a wonderful person. We had been Facebook and Twitter friends for a long time. Actually she’d been Facebook and Twitter friends with Caplin Rous and then Garibaldi Rous, not actually with me. After Caplin died, she decided to paint a portrait of him for me and she gave it to me at the conference. She did this out of the kindness of her heart; when I volunteered to pay for it, she declined. She said she cried when Caplin died and this helped her give back some.
